Good People

I’ve been feeling like I’m in a bit of a rut with my own personal development lately; Coca and I are going to do some work together to try and break me out of my funk. First up, I’ve asked for some feedback on what others expect from my role, how others view my recent achievements, and how I can better support the people I manage.

I like the sound of this initiative from We are Snook:

Good Work

We had our monthly Design Forum on Monday. Israt gave a great talk on how she used mockups of increasing fidelity to collaboratively shepherd the team she’s been working with at Ofsted through some design decisions.

At the same forum, Louise and Dawn gave a fab intro to what content design is, and how to work with content designers.

ALL HAIL THE CONTENTONIUM

It’s been a while since a piece of work in our sector stopped me in my tracks. It happened this week, courtesy of this tweet from Eliot Fineberg:

Good Stories

I finished The Great North Road by Steve Silk; the fifth book about cycle touring I’ve read in the last three months. It was a good read but not as compelling as some of the others I’ve devoured whilst starting to dreamily plot my own two-wheeled adventures.

I immediately bought and started reading Eat, Sleep, Cycle: A Bike Ride Around the Coast of Britain by Anna Hughes.

I also finished the audiobook version of Around the World by Bike by Alastair Humphreys. Absolutely brilliant.

Next up: 50 Shades of the USA: One Woman’s 11,000 Mile Cycling Adventure Through Every State of America by Anna McNuff.

I’ve discovered 10 hour videos of log fires on YouTube! Soporific enough to drift off to at bedtime, cosy enough to have on in the background on the days I work in the lounge 😌 🔥

COSY AF

With the clocks going back, I’ve tweaked my working pattern, adding 15 minutes to the start and end of my day in order to have the time to get out for a short lunchtime run. Gotta make the most of the daylight ☀️

This week marked the first slow cooker stew of the autumn/winter. With the cold snap we had, the timing couldn’t have been better 🍲

These will be my last notes for a couple of weeks due to annual leave 👋
